A Sporty Girl Summer

We are calling it: it’s officially the summer of the sporty girl. Pleated tennis skirts, trendy pickleball paddles and monogrammed visors have been flooding our feeds, inspiring us to skip our nightly Netflix binge and hit the courts. Think tennis club meets pickleball — our summer sport of choice!

Want to bring the sporty girl trend into your life? Add some of these fun elements:

Colours

One of our favourite parts of this trend is the colour palettes. Mixes of forest and olive greens, soft blues, and bright and cool-toned whites create a trendy vibe while still maintaining playful undertones.

C+M Tip: Want to add an extra hit of colour? Add pops of candy pink, lime green, and chartreuse to spice things up.

Fonts

Sporty Girl Summer is an ode to the clean, traditional aesthetic but with an added mix of bold statement pieces. For inspiration for your font, head to Pinterest for a quick search of old vintage golf course signage and country club menus. Try using ED Lavonia for a contemporary take on traditional or vintage calligraphy script. If you want a modern font, look for a thick serif display with sharp edges and corners like Larken. For a more playful feel, Lima is a great option with its interesting characters.

C+M Tip: If you want to add a sprinkle of luxury to your design, keep your typography and design elements small. A great example is the popular jewelry brand Tiffany & Co. Notice how their packaging is simplistic, with only their logo centered in the middle.

Patterns

Stripes and Checkers galore! We love the playfulness of the patterns in the sporty girl trend. Mix the colours from our palette with variations of stripes and checkers to create a design worthy of being seen on the tennis court.

C+M Tip: If you want to make an extra bold statement, use a combination of solid-coloured backgrounds and white stripes.
